Prosthodontics allows us to restore masticatory and aesthetic functions in cases of tooth loss or fracture.
We should consider the placement of a prosthesis to avoid the harmful effects of tooth loss, such as:
- The improper movement of adjacent teeth and the germination of contralateral teeth can lead to occlusion and functional imbalance.
- Pathologies of the temporomandibular joint (which connects the jaw to the skull).
- The bones that support the teeth, when lost, weaken the structure of the jawbone.
When tooth loss is inevitable, we should always consider replacing it. In this area, the patient's oral rehabilitation can be carried out with fixed or removable prostheses, so that the patient can restore facial harmony, chewing, and speech.
In all situations of fractured teeth or their absence, it is possible to place fixed or removable prosthetics depending on the cases, to replace the dental pieces, implants, crowns, or bridges, restoring your smile.
REMOVABLE DENTAL PROSTHESIS
Due to various factors, sometimes the lack of teeth cannot be corrected with implants or fixed prosthetics. Although not as comfortable, removable prosthetics can restore dental functions in a quite acceptable manner. Additionally, artificial teeth are aesthetically very similar to healthy ones.
CERAMIC VENEERS
Ceramic veneers are an effective method for aesthetically correcting anterior teeth, whether due to severe permanent pigmentation, poor proportion, or gaps between teeth. A layer of the tooth's surface is removed, which will be replaced by the ceramic veneer. The materials that bond the veneer to the tooth are very reliable, and the ceramic is very durable and aesthetic.
CERAMIC DENTAL CROWNS
Sometimes the lost dental structure is so extensive that it is advisable to replace the entire crown of the tooth with an artificial one while maintaining the healthy and solid structure of the tooth.
BRIDGES
When teeth are missing, adjacent teeth can be prepared to support a fixed dental prosthesis.
